Why is wheel alignment so important?

When your wheels are aligned the lifetime of your tyres is increased (saving you money) and performance is improved. This gives you better handling and improves your fuel economy. The benefits of wheel alignment also include reducing steering problems including pulling. Your safety is better when your wheels are aligned.

What is wheel alignment?

Wheel alignment (also called tracking or suspension alignment) is where the angles of your wheels are adjusted restoring them to the vehicle manufacturers specification. Sometimes this adjustment can seem minute but the difference it makes to your safety is important.

What causes wheel misalignment?

What causes misalignment? You only have to look at the abundance of potholes in our roads to see one of the reasons wheels become misaligned so easily! Hitting a kerb or other object in the road or excessive wear can also cause misalignment.

When should I get my wheels aligned?

WITH NEW TYRES – All tyre manufacturers recommend getting you wheels aligned when you buy new tyres so that your tyres last longer.

ANNUALLY – You should also get your wheel alignment checked annually if you do not need new tyres. Remember aligned wheels improves your handling and therefore your safety. It also improves your driving comfort by making your drive smoother.

STEERING PROBLEMS – If you notice that your vehicle is pulling to one side. When you are driving in a straight line and you need to adjust the steering.

OTHER STEERING WORKS – If you are having other work or adjustments to your vehicle that impact your wheels. For example replacing or adjusting your suspension or other component parts of the steering.

RAPID or ABNORMAL TYRE WEAR – This can also be a sign that your wheels have become misaligned. Look out for wear on the edge of your tyres.
